Hot Gigs and Hot Tips - 13 July 2016

Fresh from sold out European tour, DMA’s will return to Australia in October to headline the Croxton band room with Adelaide psych-fuzz rockers, Bad//Dreems. These boys have been going from strength to strength and if their rave reviews are anything to go by, this homecoming tour will be a mega celebration for the band on what will have been their biggest year yet!

End of Fashion, the slick pop rockers in the best sense of the term, are returning and reforming for the 10 year anniversary of their critically applauded self titled debut album. So if you want a healthy dose of nostalgia as well as some of the best pop music this country ever produced, not to mention a band and album that influencing a generation of skilful pop bands after them, then grab a ticket and see what they used to do so well.

In what’s got to be one of the most amazing rock lineups to hit Australian shores, Violent Soho, who only just finished a massive tour, just announced another tour with USA’s the Bronx, Luca Brasi and Tired Lion. My ears are ringing just at the sight of that lineup. If you’re on their mailing list you’ll have first dibs at tickets otherwise gen tickets go on sale 15 th July. They play Festival Hall 31 st October (Cup eve).

Tequila Mockingbird, the hard rocking femmes who take no prisoners are gonna smash this Friday at the Croxton Front bar! New venue kinda. New room/ new space at the Croxton for everyone to enjoy for FREE. Now that’s something we can all get behind. The band is on tour currently on their Fight and Flight debut album national tour, so prepare to be knocked out of your chair.

The Draught Dodgers are a new supergroup if you will, featuring You Am I’s Tim Rodgers on Guitar but a completely new band dynamic. The band is a blistering force on stage, ripping and growling every tune like the best Aussie grunge bands never died out. They are not surprisingly playing the Cherry bar this Saturday and will rip your ear drums out if not your face.

Also this Saturday we have a special tribute night to the Beatles happening at the Corner hotel. It’s got the cream of Melbournes top talent behind it. A star studded event with Davey Lane, Ash Naylor, Glenn Shorrock, Linda bull and others. One not to miss for Beatles fans.
