It’s getting into the colder months so people's motivation for getting out to see gigs might not be as high, but don’t let the shitty weather hold you back there are tons of gigs to get along to this April.

 

1000 Mods - Stay Gold 5th April

1000 Mods are playing at one of Brunswicks newer venues Stay Gold, Stay Gold has been operating under different names for years, Phoenix Public House being one. 1000 Mods hail from Greece, they wear all the right influences on their sleeves, Sabbath, Kyuss and MC5, so you know it will be an awesome gig, supports come from Melbourne legends Child and The Ugly Kings.

 

Girls Rock Melbourne Karina Utomo & Mariam Benjemaa 3rd April

For the whole month of April Girls Rock Melbourne will take over The Espy basement showcasing different acts every week, the first week of April Karina Utomo from metal slayers High Tension she will be joined by dark electro artist Miriam Ben Jemaa The Espy might have changed quite a bit, but at least they are still putting on great bands.

 

Ability Fest 7th April Coburg Velodrome

Ability Fest is in its second year now and the line up is bigger than ever, Presets, NorthEast Party House, Hot Dub Time Machine and my favourite party poppers Rudely Interrupted, Ability Fest was concepted by Paralympic gold medalist Dylan Alcott, Dylan wanted to use music as a inclusive platform to normalise disabilities . Last year Ability Fest made nearly $200, 000 which assisted young Australians fulfill their potential through grant programs .

 

You Am I Spinal Tap Tribute 11th April

Last year You Am I did a fantastic tribute to the all time greatest rock n roll film Spinal Tap, they played all the hits, Big Bottom Sex Farm, The Majesty of Rock and everyone's favourite Stonehenge, this year they are doing it all again for The Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

 

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats Thursday 18th April Croxton Bandroom

Soul Groovers Nathaniel Ratcliffe and The Night Sweats bring their hollering blues party to Melbourne over Easter, playing Blues Fest in Byron Bay, Boogie Fest in Tallarook and finally at the Croxton, from all reports this band are relentless in getting people on their feet, so if you think this will be a nice peaceful gig, you will be sorely mistaken, brothers and sisters, come one, come all. The Night Sweats will be bringing the party if you like it not.
