The Valery Trails launch their new album, The Sky Is Blue, with help from Sounds Like Sunset, Royal Chant and The Finalists.
Andrew Bower (vocals/guitars), an Australian then living in Houston, Texas enlisted his brother Sean (bass - Grand Atlantic) and Dan McNaulty (drums - WE ALL WANT TO) in his hometown of Brisbane, Australia to form The Valery Trails. The band announced itself in 2012 with the debut album Ghosts and Gravity, combining influences ranging from post-punk through shoegaze and classic 90s indie rock.
Further albums followed in 2014 (Buffalo Speedway) and 2016 (Chameleon Bones), charting on US college and specialty radio and receiving accolades from the US and beyond, including outlets such as PopMatters, The Big Takeover, Magnet, American Songwriter and many more. Now, their 4th album takes the band's sound to a new level.
"... a glorious collection of antipodean indie pop vignettes ..." (Backseat Mafia)
For this show, the live band is augmented by Tim Steward (Screamfeeder), who contributed guitar and backing vocals to the new record.
Sounds Like Sunset have been coaxed from their reclusiveness to bring their melodic shoegaze / noise to the table.
Port Macquarie's finest, Royal Chant, have also just released a new album, the noise-meets-tunes guitar pop of Anyways and also Sorry , which crackles with attitude and energy.
The Finalists deal in a blend of jangly guitar-based indie rock, with elements of psych-rock, shoegaze and post-punk threading through the music.
If you're into classic guitar bands from the 90s, you'll love this show ...
