2018 sure has been one hell of a year. The world is doing great, international politics has risen to new heights of civility, and we really got a handle on that whole climate change thing.
I would put it down to our ability to get along in spite of our differences in circumstances, beliefs, and attitudes. Well, that and the uniquely human capacity to curb our greed, coupled with all the trickling-down that economics has done – we pulled it off, right guys? Just had to hang in there.
Rents are in check, the distribution problem finally got solved, the rights of minorities are being respected. Big Tech has delivered on its promise to change the world and men have really started keeping their legs together on PT, stopped explaining things they know so much about, and learnt a lot about consent. You know, for a second it looked like the gig economy might displace traditional forms of employment – but then we just realised that automation would fix that and employers started transferring their wealth to their former employees so that everyone could live fulfilling and self-actualised lives.
Mission Accomplished, hey?
The cherry on the top of this objectively delicious cake is that art has been blossoming, and artists are really getting capital-P-paid under this new streaming model. We’re in an almost gilded age, actually, where we once again have the luxury of working in large studios with almost unlimited budgets, real instruments and – most importantly – the gift of time!
With all that in mind, it’s almost embarrassing how long it’s taken us to get this EP done. Like Guns N’ Roses’ "Chinese Democracy”, we’re a little over budget, but we’re pretty sure that – just like Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy” – the world has been patiently waiting, definitely still interested, with truly bated breath.
So here it comes: Colouring Cat’s debut EP, Between All The Letters.
Recorded and produced by Bruce Pagunsan, it’s a carefully crafted sonic journey, designed to help you disconnect from the utopia of modernity for about twenty minutes, and pretend – just for a second – that things aren’t quite so perfect. You can get a whole night of the misery and purgatory that never was at our EP launch on November 17 (for just $10!). Because, jesus – this paradise can get exhausting, can’t it?
