Belleville is honoured to be playing host to the one and only, the inimitable Andee Frost aka Frosty aka Andy Van Damage aka Frostilicus this Saturday night for a 4 hour journey of music that truly speaks to the soul.
Having gained a cult following through his involvement in the equally cultish Honktonks (RIP), Third Class, Sorry Grandma, New Guernica and the Mercat, it was his 10 year run at his legendary The House De Frost on Saturday nights that cemented his place as one of the cities nightlife legends before he decided to call it quits last year. From 5 hour disco marathons to booking the drag queens and left of centre artists before they were cool, HDF was a big F.U. to mainstream clubbing and all it stood for (as well as a great opportunity for Frosty to pull out some of the weirder and wilder creations from his legendary hat collection).
As one of the founding members of the Animals Dancing crew, he has always championed underground artists through his events, while supporting everyone from Daft Punk, 2ManyDJs and Justice to Optimo, the legendary Horsemeat Disco and underground icons Moodyman, DJ Harvey, Marcellus Pitmann and Nicky Siano, as well as through his now defunct No Way Back show on Triple R.
Add to that the fact he was a part owner of Central Station Records and then Hear Now in the CBD, it’s no wonder Andee Frost cant be pigeonholed by any one style. From disco to funk to house to “WTF do you even call this?” anything less than a 4 hour set just wouldnt do the man justice.
A rare sight now outside of a festival setting, don’t miss your chance to see one of Melbourne’s true enigma’s this Saturday night.
Free entry as always.
Preceded by another Melbourne legend and KISS FM head honcho Timmy Byrne from 7pm for the dinner set.
