Yirrmal at Port Fairy Folk Festival

Yirrmal Marika, from the Arnhem Land community of Yirrkala, has been walking in two worlds since moving to Geelong in 2011. His journey into western music has seen him perform internationally with The Black Arm Band, and all over Australia as a solo artist. In 2016 his collaborations with Shane Howard and Neil Murray were released on his debut EP, 'Young Blood'. He sings about Yolngu culture in a unique and powerful way. Yirrmal was named 2017 Maton Class Act for Emerging Talent and he enthusiastically ended his powerful set with a stirring rendition of Yothu Yindi's 'Treaty'.
