Hot Gigs and Hot Tips - Feb 28 - 2017

TUESDAY – Big Thief (USA) bring their indie rock tales to Northcote Social Club supported by some of Melbourne’s finest storey tellers Gabriella Cohen and Palm Spring. Definitely a line-up not to be missed.

WEDNESDAY – Moon sound like a crazy good time. They will be bringing their special brand of rock to the Cherry Bar for the first week of their residency. I’m intrigued.

THURSDAY – Junes Jones’ Fundraiser at The Tote featuring a host of new bands to discover for me. Oxblood Nightmare (USA) + Geld + Yarbles + Vertigo will be punking it up in the newly renovated bandroom upstairs. June Jones is the wonderful front woman of Two Steps on the Water and she is currently raising money for facial feminisation surgery… help a sister out! Check out this gig!

ALSO – The Elliotts will be pop rocking it at The Northcote Social Club joined by Tim McMillan & Rachel Snow, Amber Isles (a lovely indie band who are always a good time) and Tim Woodz.

FRIDAY – Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird at The Workers Club has caught my eye. These alt-folk indie legends are on constant loop on my stereo at the moment so I’ll be looking forward to checking them out. Joining them will be Greeves and Orcha. There is literally so many good things on Friday and Saturday night… Northcote Social Club, The Tote, The Curtin all have excellent bands playing… so pretty much go check anything out!

SATURDAY – Furlong is playing upstairs at The Gasometer. I have never seen these guys play but I am liking what I’m hearing so if I was going to be in Melbourne this weekend I would check this indie-pop rock crew out! The Belafontes + Palo Alto + Biddlewood will also be rocking the stage in support.

SUNDAY – RACK OFF!!! Continues for its second day at the Tote. This YWCA annual rock and roll fundraiser brings the goods every year and this year is no exception. Sunday will feature the likes of Spike Fuck + Terry + Totally Mild (pictured) to name just a few. (Saturday also has a really good line up… so go unearth the wonders of Terrible Truths and Two Steps on the Water). A celebration of local ladies killing it!

MONDAY – Slippy Mane x Lalic is an interesting hip hop duo that will be hitting the Evelyn on Mondays in March… Mondays never looked so good I’m telling you.
