Hot Gigs and Hot Tips- 17 August

If you were looking to get your dancing shoes on this week then look no further than our top gig picks! This weekend is shaping up to be a huge one for cutting shapes on the d-floor.

LA based indie party starters Grouplove bring their world tour to The Corner Hotel in Richmond this Thursday. They are supported by the lovely Lisa Mitchell, who has just released new single ‘The Boys’. This bad boy has already sold out, so we suggest stalking out the facebook event page for last minute tickets. More info here

Gig clashes are to be expected in this fair city, and choosing where you’ll be sinking tinnies this Saturday will no doubt be tricky. Dorsal Fins bring their high-energy live show to Brunswick’s Howler. Rare as it is to find a band who seem to be enjoying a gig just as much, if not more than the crowd, Dorsal Fins always make performing look like a huge party with all of their favourite people.  So this gig will probably be okay, we guess. Japanese Wallpaper will bring their other-worldly electro charm to The Corner Hotel with support from E^ST. More info here

Indie folk/pop artist Chris Watts will play The Toff in Town, supported by 1891 and Hannah Ella. More info here

If, after all this giggidy goodness, you were looking to kick on with a Sunday sesh, look no further than The Gasometer. The Sinking Teeth headline a huge show featuring Neighbourhood Youth, Darts and Heads of Charm. All proceeds will go to Oxfam as part of Oxjam, a month long ‘party against poverty’.More info here
