Tony J King at The Fig

Thursday 15 Mar, 2018

Tony J King’s signature sound is hard to pin down. Cycling between the contemporary alt-roots sound, to the jiving, dirty tunes of the 40’s and 50’s, King oscillates between worlds, sounds and moods taking influences from the likes of Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Howling Wolf, Leadbelly and Robert Johnson.

With a few stories, guitar and half a drum kit, Tony J King creates a ramshackle music that has its roots in the street-corner blues and folk of the forties. Drawing on his experiences growing up in the 'Northern Badlands' of SA and the interesting and unique jobs he's had since Tony J Kind weaves tales from his fascination with the unusual, the exotic and the downright bizarre delving into the darker and mysterious side of the flawed and the famous, the wild and the wicked.

Tony will be joining us for two sets over dinner from 7pm. Stick around afterwards to enjoy König from 9pm.

The Moldy Fig is a New Orleans restaurant bar located in the heart of the Brunswick East dining district. Try classic Southern American bites from our share style menu or sip on cocktails along the bar. Enjoy Happy Hour from 5pm and late night drink specials after 9pm.
