YES CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISING PARTY - Bands, DJs, and local artists coming together for equality and raising money for the Yes! campaign and Minus18, a youth led LGBTIQ organisation. Oh, and there'll be a good old fashion raffle too with some incredible prizes on offer. Woohoo!
It's probably fair to say that we're all super weary of the current "respectful debate" over changing the current marriage laws so they're inclusive for all Australians. Whether you're a member of the LGBTI community or an ally, it's pretty emotionally draining stuff - and perhaps the worst part is the feeling of helplessness as we sit back and wait to find out the result of the "non binding postal survey".
We've been trying to figure out a way we could get involved and do SOMETHING, so after much consideration we decided the best course of action would be to throw an epic party at the Gasometer Hotel, with heaps of great performers and DJs and raffles with incredible prizes, and give all the money raised to two great organisations: the Yes campaign, and Minus18 (a youth led LGBTI organisation - because god knows young people in the community are going to need as much support as possible right now).
The current line up includes Alex Lahey (solo), Lanks, and Fan Girl - and there's more to be announced. Between the bands you can enjoy sweet tunes from guest DJs including Alice Ivy, NO ZU, Pony Face, and The Harpoons, and we'll also be selling raffle tickets throughout the night with some incredible prizes on offer from live music venues around Melbourne, record labels, wedding industry vendors, artists, publishers, and more. Assorted legends like Myf Warhurst (Double J), Fee B Squared (RRR), and Kate McCartney + Kate McLennan (Get Krack!n, The Katering Show) will be drawing the raffles and showing their support for a great cause. Plus there's a silent auction curated by Melbourne Arts Club featuring great local artists like Jason Parker, J Forsyth, Bec Smith, Lauren Guymer, Madison Griffiths, Tegan Iversen, and more!
We'd love to see some friendly faces down there for a rollicking good time in the name of equality - tickets are available via the Gaso website and on the door (if there are any left!).
Tickets $20+BF. Doors 7.30 PM
