After several months squirrelled about in a glittery synth cave, Glass Diamonds have emerged with their new single, Two Wrongs.
The band was born from an experiment in a studio in Melbourne one night in late 2016. Producer Jaymes Brown was playing with an old reel-to-reel tape machine, a drum machine and a synthesiser. A simple loop soon turned into a jam, layered with saturated drums, echoey, filtered synths and disco bass. Later, with the help of vocalist Tegan Thorogood, that jam turned into a song.
A couple of months of writing passed and before the duo knew it, they had an album's worth of material together. With the addition of bassist James Trewenack, what had started as a simple experiment soon morphed into a fully blown band.
Glass Diamonds will launch their new single and music video, Two Wrongs, upstairs at the Gasometer Hotel on Wednesday 25 October, with beatmaker and songstress Kaia and electronic duo Kayo.
Two Wrongs is an explosion of swirling synth, sweaty beats and soaring vocals, with a clear agenda for the dance floor.
Tickets $10 on the door. Doors 8.00 PM
