The James Morrison Quartet is one of the world’s most in demand jazz ensembles.
The group, a trio of jazz guitar, jazz bass and drums, has been performing with James Morrison, wowing audiences and making award winning music in its current formation since early 2015. In that short time, the group has taken the international music scene by storm appearing at major world festivals such as the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London with jazz superstar Dianne Reeves and the BBC Concert Orchestra; the Prague Proms Festival at Smetna Hall with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra; the Festival of Jazz de Valencia at the Palau de la Musica in Spain; the National Arts Festival in South Africa; the Melbourne International Jazz Festival with Grammy Award winning diva Patti Austin and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and International Jazz Day with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at the Adelaide Festival Theatre and Grammy Award winning artist Gordon Goodwin.
Made up of musicians William Morrison, Harry Morrison and Patrick Danao, in Australia the group is a house-hold name and has performed for the Australian Prime Minister and the Australian Ambassador to the United States as well as at the Sydney Opera House, The Arts Centre in Melbourne, Llewelyn Hall and the National Press Club in Canberra and the Gold Coast Arts Centre in Queensland. Patrick Danao has recently been signed as an exclusive artist endorsing Viennese world leading instrument makers, Schagerl.
The group has released two critically acclaimed albums in the last two years. “The Great American Songbook” recorded at Abbey Road in London with the BBC Concert Orchestra charted on both the Australian ARIA Pop and Jazz Charts and remained on the Jazz Charts for 11 weeks. The release was awarded Best Jazz Album at the 2017 ARIA Awards. In November 2017, the group featured on “Ella and Louis” released by ABC Jazz with Patti Austin and James Morrison. In March 2018, ABC Jazz will release “From Midnight ‘till Dawn” – an album exclusively featuring the quartet. The group has also appeared on national radio in the UK on BBC3’s In Tune program.
About the band's latest project and picture on this page: Recorded at the fabled Abbey Road in London in the small hours of the morning, Midnight Till Dawn is one of those discs where the band are relaxed, the lights are low and the vibe is good. Musicians evolve, planned projects come and go, but this is simply a snapshot of a band on the road, captured mid-tour, almost as though you were listening in on a late-night jam session…actually, you are.
