MICHELLE IS A SINGER BORN TO SING, BORN TO CHARM, ENLIGHTEN AND SEDUCE THROUGH MUSIC.” - KURT ELLING
Kurt, who first heard Michelle at Wangaratta Jazz in 1998 was also one of the judges for the National Jazz Awards that year. He and his colleagues were unanimous that Michelle was the standout singer in the finals of the Jazz Awards.
That success helped establish Michelle’s reputation on the national stage. But it is the consistently high standards of her performances since then that have reinforced her position as arguably the finest jazz singer Australia has produced.
For this show, Michelle Nicolle produced herself with her Quartet, critically aclaimed as one of the best in Australia. Nicolle’s warmth and an effortless flow of ideas make the old sound new to the delight of her audiences.
“..all the band had to do was set up a golden glow of warmth, soft groove and space and Nicolle was soaring to places you will be taken by few singers. In the world, I mean.” John Shand, SMH Feb 2016
MN Quartet are: Geoff Hughes (guitar), Ronny Ferella (drums), Tom Lee (bass)
