Hot Gigs and Hot Tips - 01 Jun 2016

Candian punk rockers PUP are coming to our shores despite doctors telling the singer that “the dream is over” after damaging his vocal chords. They went on to record a blistering second album and went on tour anyway. Though we don’t recommend defying your doctors health advice, it’s a killer two fingers up to those who say you can’t. The Dream Is Over album is out now!

Mick Thomas and the Roving Commision hits the Caravan Music Club to play Mid Winter Hit Out! Sunday July 31st. Support comes from the excellent Rich Davies and The Low Road and Ayleen O’Haloran. We spoke to Rich last year about his new single at the time. We hope new things coming for Rich and the band as they start gigging again! Ayleen is a growing force on the folk scene. Her banjo wrangling is second to none and after touring lately with Rich these two will be at their most spectacular supporting this show.

Gypsy and the Cat have announced a tour playing tunes off their new album. Playing labour day eve June 11th. They’re the best sorts of gigs, cause guarantee holiday to recover from a mega night out! And with Gypsy and The Cat you know you’re going to be up all night! Playing new venue called Melbourne Public on south wharf promenade. Keep your eyes on this venue. Me thinks it’s gonna host some excellent gigs there in the future!

This week The Last Dinosaurs are taking over the Northcote social club with 3 shows in a row from Thursday night! Only a few tickets left for the Thursday show, so get in quick! Their smooth, electro pop has been likened to Phoneix and Peter Bjorn and John. With too many hits to count this will be the last time you will see them at a show this small before they take off to the stratosphere!
